Below is a transcript of a letter that I have sent to the Editors of the MK News and Citizen Newspapers:
Dear Sir
I would like to thank the 537 residents of Linford North Ward who voted for me on Thursday 5th May 2011.
For the first time I stood as the Labour and Co-operative Party candidate, with support also from my union the GMB Milton Keynes Branch, of which I was proud to be able to do so at this election, along with Peter Marland who stood and won in Wolverton.
Most people may only know the Co-operative movement for its stores and the famous Divi along with its funeral and banking services, but it also also has co-operatives running housing schemes, telecommunications, schools and businesses set up in all sectors of the economony.
Please do consider joining the Milton Keynes Labour Party who will be your voice in tough times www.labour.org.uk and the Co-operative Party www.party.coop
Lastly as a member of the Milton Keynes Yes to Fairer Votes campaign I was naturally disapointed about the result but would say that a marker has been laid to revisit the issue of electoral reform in the future, and would like to thank everyone from across parties and none who all worked together so hard to get the message out via the street stallls leafleting knocking on doors and the march through Central Milton Keynes.
Kind Regards
Brian Barton
Labour and Co-operative party candidate for Linford North Ward
