Sealing of the Ballot Box

Thursday 4th August 2011
I left work at 3:30pm in the rain which in one sense was a relief from the muggy sticky heat, I arrived first at the Labour Hall followed by Kevin and Dan, once in the office Kevin showed me a  postal vote pack which I discovered had the covering letter address with a different address on the postal vote form, so we divied up all 20 packs took the postal vote forms out and matched them with the covering letter addresses although there were at least three postal vote forms with the same address on.
Then we sealed them up ready for posting, Kevin gave me some labels and a thick green pen and said I had the neatest hand writing and could I write each candidates name on them, which I found a table in the meeting room and carefully wrote each name ensuring that I did not make a spelling mistake.
At last we got round to sealing the ballot box I was asked by Dan to sign my name on a label along with Kevin and Dan himself  he then opened up the ballot box and we all peered into to see that it was empty and he sealed the ballot box with our labels.
Kevin asked if I would go canvassing at 5:30pm at Emerson Valley, I told him I had to go back to work, all of the candidates had agreed to go in the pouring rain before going to the hustings meeting later on.
All in all I spent over an hour which was longer than I thought I would be there for and then drove back to work.
